Belsay Linen is shown here in a soft linen beige that feels warm, quiet and easy to live with. The trailing botanical design sits gently on the ground, with pale stitched leaves giving the surface a soft, textured lift.

About this fabric

This Sanderson fabric from the Embleton Bay Fabrics collection has a usable width of 130 cm and a substantial 320 gsm weight, giving it enough body for either upholstery or drapery. The pattern repeat measures 39.2 cm vertically and 42.3 cm horizontally, and the design reads as a repeating leaf trail rather than a dense all-over print. In this colourway, the ground is a muted linen beige with a warm, chalky cast, while the embroidered foliage appears in light ivory and pale oyster tones. The overall effect is understated and natural, with the texture catching the light in a calm, matte way.

How to use it

Use it on an armchair, bench seat or relaxed curtain where the soft beige ground can soften stronger woods and painted finishes. It works especially well with off-white walls, pale oak and layered natural textures.

Pair with pale timber and chalky neutrals to keep the embroidered leaf motif feeling light and airy.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Belsay Linen without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
