About this colour

At #8C8575, Crag Grey reads as a muted grey-brown with enough warmth to keep it from feeling cold. On a wall it softens daylight rather than reflecting much of it, so it can feel quietly enveloping in a north-facing room. In south-facing light the warmer undertone comes forward and the colour looks more stone-like, with the grey still holding it steady. It sits well beside natural oak, walnut and dark painted woodwork, and it is an easy partner for upholstery in linen, herringbone, checked wool and deep neutral shades. The finish options, Active Emulsion and Waterbased Eggshell, suit both walls and joinery where a calm, practical surface is wanted.

How to use it

Use Crag Grey in sitting rooms, studies or hallways where you want a restrained backdrop for fitted shelving or panelling. It works especially well with cream or mushroom woodwork, and with upholstery in tobacco, ochre, charcoal or soft sage.

On a wall, Crag Grey feels steady and warm, with a muted depth that changes gently with the light.

Pairs well with

Crag Grey is a wall colour, so these are the cloths that sit against it: one of them on the curtains, the paint behind. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.
