Moat Birds Damson/Cobalt

Sanderson x National Trust Volume II FabricSAF0483-01

Moat Birds Damson/Cobalt is a richly patterned fabric with a creamy ground and a lively, storybook mix of birds, trees and scattered florals. The damson and cobalt accents give the design a fresh, painterly contrast without losing its country-house feel.

About this fabric

This Sanderson x National Trust Volume II fabric has a usable width of 139.5 cm and a substantial 270 gsm weight, making it a versatile cloth for curtains or upholstery. The design reads as a warm cream base layered with damson-red branches, cobalt blue birds and flowers, and leafy green tree forms that create a busy but balanced all-over repeat. Its 34.5 cm vertical repeat and 69 cm horizontal repeat support the stepped, landscape-style layout visible in the swatch, where the motifs move across the cloth rather than sitting in a strict grid. At 44 threads per cm, the surface appears tightly woven and crisp, with enough body to hold the pattern detail clearly. The overall effect is decorative and traditional, but the cooler cobalt notes keep the palette feeling brighter than a purely red-and-green scheme.

How to use it

Pair this colourway with painted wood, warm neutrals and simple upholstery so the pattern can take the lead. It works especially well in a cottage sitting room or a more formal study where the damson and cobalt details can echo nearby ceramics or artwork.

Use for statement curtains or an upholstered accent piece to bring colour and story into a room.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
