About this fabric

Water Dragon Emperor Blue/Emerald from Sanderson’s Water Garden Fabrics collection is a substantial fabric at 416 gsm, with a 133 cm usable width and a large 51.5 cm vertical repeat and 66.6 cm horizontal repeat. The weave reads as tight and finely textured, which helps the deep blue ground hold a dense, saturated look rather than appearing flat. Against that base, the dragons are picked out in creamy ivory, sage-green and emerald accents, with soft grey shading that gives the design a slightly aged, decorative character. The overall effect is luxurious and fairly formal, but the clear contrast keeps it lively and usable on statement upholstery.

How to use it

This colourway works well on a classic armchair, ottoman or banquette where the emperor blue ground can anchor the room. Pair it with pale plaster, warm brass or lacquered dark wood to let the emerald and cream details stand forward.

Use for statement seating or a dramatic accent with crisp neutrals and softened metallics.
