About this fabric

The close surface has a velvety, directional appearance, with irregular pale fibres breaking through the charcoal ground like softened stone. At 486 gsm and 140 cm usable width, it has the substantial weight suited to upholstery. Both the vertical and horizontal pattern repeats are 0 cm, so the visible variation comes from the pile and tonal weave rather than a repeating motif. The supplied 85 threads per cm further describes its densely constructed surface.

How to use it

Use this cool charcoal colourway on a generous armchair, sofa or footstool where its smoky tonal shifts can be seen across the upholstery. Balance the deep grey with chalky neutrals, pale timber or warm metallic accents to keep the room from feeling too stark.

Its charcoal-grey, softly mottled pile brings depth to tailored upholstery without a printed repeat.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
