About this colour

This shade reads as a cool blue-green with a strong grey cast, so it absorbs light and holds its depth on the wall. In north-facing rooms it will look darker, more blue and more reserved, while in south-facing light the green in it comes forward and the colour feels a little clearer. As Acrylic Eggshell, Elite Emulsion or True Matt, it works well on joinery, walls and built-in pieces where a measured, low-key colour is needed. It sits neatly beside walnut, oak, pewter, linen shades and patterned upholstery with muted green, blue or stone tones.

How to use it

Use Serpentine in a study, dining room or hall, especially where you want painted woodwork to sit quietly against darker furniture. It pairs well with leather, mossy greens, inky blues and woven neutrals in curtains or seating.

A deep blue-green like Serpentine can make a wall feel grounded and slightly cooler.
