Chelton Indigo

Essential Weaves Vol 2 FabricEWV2CHELTON

Chelton Indigo has a tightly ordered grid of soft-edged squares and dots, giving the swatch a calm, architectural feel. The indigo ground reads cool and slightly washed, with a chalky lightness that softens the geometric repeat.

About this fabric

From Ashley Wilde’s Essential Weaves Vol 2, Chelton Indigo is a drapes-only fabric woven in 57% polyester and 43% cotton. The pattern repeat is a neat 24cm vertically and 23cm horizontally, creating a small-scale geometric surface that feels disciplined rather than busy. At 140cm wide and 357 grams per linear metre, it has enough body for curtains with a clean, structured hang, while the 255gsm cloth shows as a substantial woven textile rather than a sheer. The indigo colouring is muted and cool, with pale ground areas and darker grid lines that give the design a softly worn, almost printed-on look.

How to use it

Its cool indigo tone works well for tailored curtains in rooms with pale timber, white paint, or brushed metal details. Use it where you want pattern without visual noise; the small grid keeps the look smart and controlled.

Use to bring a crisp, tailored rhythm to curtains or blinds.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Chelton Indigo without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
