Makona Shadow

Tabala Fabric

Makona Shadow makes a dramatic first impression with a near-black charcoal ground cut through by broad, painterly shapes. Rust, caramel, stone and smoky blue-grey accents give the dark colourway a layered, atmospheric quality.

About this fabric

The surface shown has a soft, brushed appearance that gently catches the light across the deep charcoal-black background. Large, irregular forms move across the cloth in rust-brown, muted caramel, warm stone and cool grey-blue, creating an expressive abstract composition rather than a regular repeat. Pale angular strokes provide contrast, while the darker areas bring depth and visual weight. Its plush-looking handle and bold scale make this colourway especially compelling for statement upholstery.

How to use it

Use Makona Shadow on a sculptural armchair, occasional chair or compact sofa where its charcoal depth can anchor a room. Echo the warm rust and caramel marks with walnut, aged brass or terracotta, then soften the scheme with stone upholstery or plaster-toned walls.

Use this dramatic charcoal colourway on a statement chair or sofa, pairing it with warm timber and muted stone accents.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
