Insignia Charcoal

Origins FabricCCF0495-01

Insignia Charcoal combines a cool charcoal-grey base with irregular pale silver-grey markings that run in broken vertical columns. The close-up reveals a tactile woven surface, giving the colourway depth rather than a flat, uniform finish.

About this fabric

This 304gsm Clarke & Clarke fabric has a substantial woven handle, while its charcoal ground reads as softened and slightly cool beneath the lighter threads. Pale grey-white flecks form loose, weathered vertical shapes, with darker charcoal gaps creating a softly distressed, abstract rhythm. The design has a 33cm vertical repeat and a 35cm horizontal repeat, allowing the broken motif to continue across a wider upholstered surface. It is supplied at a 140cm usable width, with a standard length of 40m.

How to use it

Use Insignia Charcoal on a statement armchair, bench or headboard where its cool charcoal depth can anchor a room without looking solid black. Pair it with pale stone, silver-grey or washed timber tones to pick up the lighter woven markings.

A cool charcoal ground and pale, broken vertical texture bring graphic depth to upholstered pieces.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Insignia Charcoal without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
