Casimir Old Blue

Colefax Classics II FabricF4235-02

Casimir Old Blue shows a delicate floral trail in washed old blue, greyed taupe and soft cream on a warm ivory ground. The pattern feels airy and traditional, with the blue notes kept gentle rather than bright.

About this fabric

This Colefax and Fowler fabric is 100% linen, with a width of approx. 137cm and a vertical repeat of 73cm in a half-drop layout, plus an approx. horizontal repeat of 91cm. The linen ground gives the design a lightly textured, relaxed surface that suits the soft, painterly handling of the floral motifs. In this colourway the blue is muted and antique-looking, leaning more powdery than fresh, while the stems and leafwork sit in taupe-grey for a quietly layered effect. It has enough presence for curtains or upholstery where a classic pattern is wanted without heavy contrast.

How to use it

Pair this old blue with painted timber, pale oak and chalky neutrals to keep the room light and composed. It works especially well in a sitting room or bedroom where the muted blue flowers can add pattern without overpowering the space.

Use it for tailored curtains or refined upholstery where the pale blue reads calm rather than stark.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
