Finlay Check Old Blue

Erskine Wools FabricF4107-03

Finlay Check Old Blue pairs a softened blue-grey check with a warm, pale base for a calm, understated look. The woven surface reads lightly textured and gently traditional rather than stark or crisp.

About this fabric

This Erskine Wools fabric is woven in 73% wool and 27% linen, giving the check a dry, natural handle and a slightly softened finish. The repeat is approximately 14cm vertically and 13cm horizontally, creating a medium-scale checked pattern that feels orderly without being rigid. In this Old Blue colourway, the blue sits low and muted against a creamy ground, so the design has a weathered, washed quality rather than a bright contrast. At approximately 153cm wide, it is a practical furnishing cloth for pieces where the check can be shown clearly across the surface.

How to use it

Use this colourway on a wing chair, sofa, or bench to bring a quiet country feel without heavy contrast. It also works well for full-length curtains where the soft blue-grey check can gently frame a room.

A quietly smart check that works well on country upholstery or tailored curtains.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Finlay Check Old Blue without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
