Porter & Stone

Serpa Charcoal

Plains & Semi Plains Fabric

Serpa Charcoal has a quietly textured, stone-like look with a cool charcoal base softened by pale grey highlights. The woven motif reads as a low-contrast geometric surface rather than a bold pattern.

About this fabric

This fabric is composed of 64% Polyester and 36% Cotton, giving it a practical woven handle with a crisp, structured appearance. At 137cm wide and with a 35.5cm pattern repeat, it is suited to projects where the design needs to sit neatly across larger upholstered pieces. The charcoal ground is lifted by silvery grey threads, creating a mottled, slightly weathered effect that feels more refined than stark black. The surface has a dry, tactile weave that catches the light in a muted way, so the pattern remains present without becoming busy.

How to use it

Serpa Charcoal works well on a clean-lined sofa, dining chairs, or a bench where its tonal grey texture can add depth without overwhelming the room. Pair it with pale oak, black accents, or soft off-whites to keep the palette sharp and contemporary.

Use on tailored seating or a statement cushion for a subtle, textural finish.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
