Harlequin

Takara Teal/Ink

Takara Teal/Ink layers cool teal and deep ink brush-like vertical marks over a pale chalky ground. The irregular, painterly strokes create a textured impression, with lighter areas allowing the blue tones to shift across the surface.

About this fabric

This 218 gsm fabric has a 137 cm usable width and a substantial 395 threads per cm, making it a versatile mid-weight choice for upholstery or drapery. Its 89 cm vertical and 69 cm horizontal repeat forms broken bands of dark ink, blue-green teal, muted grey and warm chalky cream. The ink marks give the colourway depth, while the pale ground keeps the overall effect airy rather than heavy. Close, uneven strokes and flecks make the surface read as expressive and tactile even where the cloth remains comparatively light.

How to use it

Pair Takara Teal/Ink with pale grey, chalk, or weathered timber to echo its light ground, then repeat the deeper ink in piping, cushions or painted furniture. Its cool teal depth suits a relaxed modern room where the vertical painterly repeat can act as the main pattern.

Use the cool teal and ink ground to bring painterly movement to upholstery, curtains or cushions.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Takara Teal/Ink without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
