The house has discontinued this one. We are keeping the page so the link still works, but we can no longer order it. There are alternatives below, and if you have a cutting or a photograph we will help you match it.

Fractal Steel brings a cool, pale steel-grey ground together with chalk-white spirals formed from closely spaced broken strokes. The overlapping circular motifs create a calm, rhythmic surface with a softly graphic character.

About this fabric

The low-contrast grey-and-white palette keeps the concentric pattern gentle rather than stark, while the textile surface has a lightly tactile, matte appearance. Its 300 gsm weight and 140 cm usable width make it a versatile mid-weight choice for both upholstery and drapery. A 66 cm vertical repeat and 70 cm horizontal repeat give the spirals a clear, measured rhythm when the fabric is joined across a larger surface. The cool steel tone reads particularly clean and understated, allowing the white markings to catch the light without becoming high-contrast.

How to use it

Use Fractal Steel to bring a cool, airy note to a tailored armchair, headboard or full-length curtain. Pair its soft steel-grey ground with warm ivory, pale timber and brushed metal to balance the patterned surface.

A cool, softly patterned grey for upholstery, curtains and other tailored interiors.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Fractal Steel without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
