Seaweed Ebony/Poppy

Morris and Friends Volume I Fabrics FabricMOF0058-02

Seaweed Ebony/Poppy layers intricate cream and olive botanical sprays across a deep ebony-toned ground, punctuated by clearly defined poppy-red flowers. The dense, evenly distributed pattern has a richly illustrated Morris & Co. character without losing the contrast of its darker base.

About this fabric

The colourway is built around near-black ebony and muted olive, with warm cream foliage and saturated poppy-red blooms providing the strongest accents. Fine curling stems, feathery leaves and repeated floral rosettes create a detailed surface that reads as ornamental rather than minimal. At 230 gsm with 92 threads per cm, the fabric has a substantial mid-weight specification suited to both upholstery and drapery. Its 139 cm usable width accommodates practical furnishing applications, while the 70.5 cm vertical and 69.5 cm horizontal pattern repeats should be considered when matching the design.

How to use it

Pair Seaweed Ebony/Poppy with warm wood, aged brass and olive or charcoal upholstery to bring out its shadowed ground; use the red blooms as a controlled accent through cushions or painted details. Its 70.5 cm vertical repeat is especially effective on curtains or a statement chair where the botanical arrangement can be read clearly.

Use the deep olive-ebony ground to anchor upholstery or curtains, with poppy-red flowers adding a measured burst of colour.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
