About this fabric

The Woodsmoke colourway is grounded in a dark, muted olive-brown, while the circular sporting vignettes bring flashes of brick red, dusty blue, ochre and mushroom. Sailing boats, tennis racquets, rowing boats and equestrian scenes are arranged in a closely repeated all-over design. This 83% cotton and 17% polyester velvet is 134 cm wide, with a 42 cm vertical repeat and 44.6 cm horizontal repeat. It is specified for curtains, loose upholstery, fixed upholstery and bedspreads; care instructions state that it must not be washed, bleached or ironed and should be professionally dry cleaned.

How to use it

Use Woodsmoke on a reading chair, ottoman or upholstered headboard where its deep olive base can sit alongside aged wood, leather and warm neutral linens. Its 134 cm width and substantial velvet character also make it suitable for curtains or a coordinated bedspread, with pattern placement planned around the circular scenes.

A richly illustrated velvet for characterful upholstery, curtains and bedspreads, with layered sporting scenes in earthy tones.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Sporting Life Velvet Woodsmoke without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
