Armathwaite Blue shows a pale, icy ground scattered with airy blossom stems, delicate flowers and small bird motifs. The overall effect is light and fresh, with the watercolour detail sitting softly on the cloth.

About this fabric

Woven in a 95% cotton, 5% linen blend, this fabric has a natural handle and a relaxed, softly structured finish that suits curtains, blinds and soft furnishings. The 230gsm weight gives it enough body for room-side use while still feeling light in appearance, and the 140cm usable width offers practical coverage. In this colourway, the ground reads as a cool powder blue with a very soft, almost misted quality, which helps the lilac, blush, olive and mustard accents lift gently from the surface. The printed branches and scattered blossoms feel open and delicate rather than dense, and the 70cm by 72cm repeat supports the large-scale, painterly look.

How to use it

Use Armathwaite Blue in a calm bedroom or sitting room where the cool ground can balance pale woods, white paintwork and brushed brass details. It also works well as statement curtains in a light-filled space, where the soft blue tone will keep the floral pattern feeling airy.

Pair with pale timber and chalky neutrals to let the painterly blossoms stand out.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
