Firth grey

Ettrick Fabricfirth/fa1/gcr

Firth Grey sets the Ettrick thistle motif against a calm, softly mottled grey ground that feels light and airy. The repeated botanical spray adds gentle colour without losing the relaxed character of the cloth.

About this fabric

Woven in 95% cotton and 5% linen, this fabric has the natural, lightly slubbed look you can see in the ground, which gives the print a quiet textile texture rather than a flat finish. At 230gsm, it sits in a useful mid-weight range for curtains, blinds and soft furnishings, and the 138cm usable width supports practical make-up. The 23cm horizontal repeat and 31.5cm vertical repeat create a regular, balanced rhythm across the thistle design. In this Firth Grey colourway, the base reads as a cool pale grey with just enough warmth to flatter the soft greens and lilac-pink flower heads.

How to use it

Use Firth Grey where you want a botanical pattern that stays restrained: it works well with limewashed walls, natural oak and muted sage accessories. The pale grey ground keeps the thistle motif fresh in bright rooms and stops the lilac notes from feeling too sweet.

Pair it with pale timber, chalky neutrals and leafy accents to keep the thistle motif feeling fresh.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
