Nyala Amber

Domino Velvets VelvetZOF0179-04

Nyala Amber combines a deep amber-brown ground with vertical bands of irregular, pebble-like loop motifs. The close velvet surface gives the warm colour a softly shaded depth, while the alternating stripe widths keep the pattern clearly architectural.

About this fabric

This Zoffany Domino Velvets design has a usable width of 138 cm and a 33 cm vertical by 45 cm horizontal pattern repeat. At 569 gsm, it is a substantial velvet well suited to upholstery rather than delicate, fluid drapery. In the image, narrow plain amber bands separate wider patterned sections, where pale outlined ovals and fine linear texture create a tactile, almost organic surface. The 85 threads per cm construction supports the fabric’s dense visual character, with the amber shade shifting between honeyed brown and darker bronze across the pile.

How to use it

Use Nyala Amber on a statement armchair, headboard or sofa where its warm bronze-brown tone can anchor creams, tobacco leather, dark timber and muted olive accents. The vertical banding also works well on tailored upholstery that benefits from a strong directional pattern.

Use this richly textured amber velvet to bring warmth and graphic vertical rhythm to upholstered seating.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
