About this fabric

The design combines arched bridges, tiered pagodas, roofed pavilions, water, foliage and fantastical cloud forms in fine blue illustration, with the pale ground allowing the intricate drawing to remain light rather than dense. Its cool indigo tone reads softly and evenly across the swatch, giving the scene a more tranquil, moonlit character than a warmer or stronger blue colourway. With a usable width of 140 cm and a large 117.5 cm vertical by 140 cm horizontal repeat, the composition needs considered pattern placement on larger drops or upholstered panels. The 236 gsm weight and 40 m standard length make it a versatile mid-weight textile for both drapery and selected upholstery applications.

How to use it

Use the cool indigo-and-pale palette to bring calm structure to a bedroom, study or drawing room, pairing it with chalky whites, pale timber and restrained navy accents. On curtains, the full scenic repeat can be appreciated vertically; on an occasional chair or cushion, select a bridge, pavilion or pagoda as the focal motif.

A cool blue chinoiserie scene that brings detailed architectural and landscape imagery to curtains, cushions and occasional upholstery.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
