About this colour

This shade reads as a soft warm grey with a quiet green undertone, and the #A8A18F value keeps it grounded rather than bright. On a wall it absorbs more light than it reflects, so it can feel cocooning without turning heavy. In north-facing light the green-grey side comes forward and the colour can look a little cooler and more mineral. In south-facing rooms it warms up gently and shows more of its beige tone, which makes it easy to place beside natural wood, aged brass, olive upholstery and deep neutrals. It works well in Zoffany’s Acrylic Eggshell, Elite Emulsion and True Matt, each finish keeping the shade calm and understated.

How to use it

Use Fossil in sitting rooms, studies or hallways where you want a restrained backdrop for patterned curtains, tan leather and timber furniture. It also suits painted joinery beside linen, tweed and muted green or brown upholstery.
