About this colour

This shade reads as a cool, smoked purple with enough grey in it to keep it steady on the wall. It absorbs more light than it reflects, so it can feel close and enveloping, especially in True Matt, while Acrylic Eggshell and Elite Emulsion will give it a little more clarity. In a north-facing room it will lean cooler and more slate-like, with the purple softened back by the grey. In south-facing light it gains a little warmth and the violet note becomes easier to read, without turning bright. It sits well beside dark walnut, painted joinery in off-white, and upholstery in deep moss, plum, or charcoal tones.

How to use it

It suits a study, library, or dining room where you want the walls to feel settled and slightly formal. Use it with timber furniture, pale woodwork, or upholstery in linen, velvet, or wool in muted neutrals and deep jewel shades.

On a wall, Victorian Purple feels calm, shaded, and distinctly architectural.
