Dancing Alice Madder

The Arthur Portfolio FabricDNCNALCMDDR

Dancing Alice Madder places pale blossom clusters and winding olive-gold branches against a deep madder-red ground. The cloth has a subtly vertically striated, softly irregular surface that gives the colour added depth.

About this fabric

The swatch is dominated by a warm, saturated madder red, with darker tonal movement visible through the woven ground. Stylised flowering branches travel diagonally across the design, combining olive-gold stems and leaves with cream and muted beige blossom heads. The generous botanical repeat reads clearly at a distance, while the fine vertical irregularities in the ground prevent the red from appearing flat. Its substantial-looking woven appearance makes it well suited to upholstery applications.

How to use it

Use this deep madder colourway to bring a dramatic, warm focal point to an armchair, ottoman or occasional sofa. Balance the red with aged timber, olive accents and quiet cream textiles that pick up the blossom details.

A richly coloured botanical upholstery with cream blossom clusters and olive-gold branches on a deep red ground.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Dancing Alice Madder without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
