Austen Otter

Darwin Collection FabricAUSTEN

Austen Otter is a softly muted plain with a dry, lightly striated surface and a calm otter-taupe tone. Its understated finish gives the colourway a grounded, tailored feel rather than a flat beige read.

About this fabric

This colourway shows a restrained taupe-brown base with a subtle grey cast, lifted by fine horizontal texturing that catches the light gently across the surface. The fabric is composed of 90% Recycled Polyester and 10% Polyester, and it is specified for drapes only, making the cloth's fluid, refined appearance particularly relevant. At 140cm wide and 200gsm, it has enough substance to hang with body while still reading as a clean plain. With no horizontal pattern repeat, the emphasis stays on the nuanced colour depth and the soft, woven movement visible in the swatch. Made in India, it has a composed, modern neutrality that sits comfortably in both warm and cool schemes.

How to use it

Use Austen Otter for floor-to-ceiling curtains where its muted taupe tone can soften light without drawing attention. It pairs especially well with natural oak, chalky paint colours and textured linens.

A quietly tailored neutral that layers easily with timber, stone and soft whites.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
