Cape Indigo

Monterey Collection FabricCAPE

Cape Indigo is a deep, muted blue stripe with a crisp, tailored look. The fine pale lines give the surface a neat rhythm and keep the overall effect fresh rather than heavy.

About this fabric

Woven in India from 64% cotton and 36% polyester, Cape Indigo is specified for severe contract upholstery and drapes, making it a practical choice for busy interiors. The cloth has a decorative finish with a 40,000 rub test, a width of 138cm, and a substantial 472 grams per linear metre, so it feels like a confident mid-weight textile. Visually, the base reads as a smoky indigo-blue rather than a bright navy, while the narrow vertical pinstripes introduce a lighter, chalky contrast that sharpens the pattern. The 9cm horizontal repeat suggests a disciplined stripe layout that works especially well when the fabric is tailored or hung cleanly.

How to use it

Use Cape Indigo on dining chairs, banquettes or smart curtains where its cool blue depth can balance oak, linen and painted timber. It also works well in coastal or contemporary schemes that need a stripe with enough contrast to read clearly without feeling loud.

A refined indigo stripe that pairs neatly with pale neutrals and dark woods.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
