Carnival VelvetPF50417.955

Montpellier Velvet Ebony appears almost black in the swatch, with a dense velvet surface that shifts subtly as the pile catches the light. Its near-solid colour gives the fabric a sleek, enveloping presence.

About this fabric

This is a deep ebony velvet with a softly directional nap and faint tonal variation across the surface, rather than a visible woven motif. Made from 100% polyester, it measures 140 cm (55") wide and is suitable for curtains, fixed upholstery and bedspreads. Its 100,000 Martindale rub test makes it a particularly robust choice for fixed seating while retaining the plush visual depth seen here. After care specifies a cool minimum machine wash, professional dry cleaning, no tumble drying, no bleach and a cool iron.

How to use it

Use the near-black tone on a generous armchair, banquette or headboard to create a dramatic focal point, or let it fall as full curtains for a quieter, light-absorbing finish. Pair the ebony surface with warm timber, aged brass or pale neutrals to reveal its subtle velvet sheen.

Use this deep ebony velvet to bring a sleek, cocooning depth to upholstery, curtains or a tailored bedspread.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
