Alvar Tamarind is a warm, earthy terracotta textile with a softly mottled surface and gentle tonal depth. The close-up shows an almost plain weave, where the tamarind shade shifts subtly across the cloth rather than forming a visible motif.

About this fabric

This Clarke & Clarke fabric has a useable width of 144 cm and a weight of 300 gsm, giving it a versatile mid-weight presence for upholstery or drapery. Its rich tamarind colour sits between muted terracotta and warm russet, with a softened finish that avoids looking sharply orange. Very fine tonal variation across the surface adds depth while keeping the design pattern-free, reflected in its 0 cm vertical and horizontal pattern repeats. The 35 m standard length makes it practical for larger furnishing and window-treatment projects.

How to use it

Pair Alvar Tamarind with warm ivory, tobacco, walnut and aged brass for a grounded, enveloping scheme. Its muted terracotta depth works particularly well on a statement chair, bench or full-length curtain where the subtle surface variation can catch the light.

Its warm, muted terracotta tone brings depth to upholstery while the plain surface also drapes cleanly for relaxed curtains.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
