About this fabric

From Colefax and Fowler’s Cosima Velvet II collection, this colourway is a plain velvet with no visible repeat, making the texture and tone the focus. The blend of 56% viscose and 44% cotton gives the surface a supple, light-reflective handle that reads as gently worn-in rather than flat. In Cosima Sand, the colour sits between beige and muted gold, with a dry earthy warmth that softens as the nap shifts in the light. At approximately 140cm wide, it is a practical upholstery cloth for considered seating, cushions and decorative schemes that need depth without pattern.

How to use it

Use this sand tone on a sofa or pair of armchairs where its warm, subdued sheen can lift natural linens, oak and pale stone. It also works well in layered neutrals, adding richness without pushing a room into yellow.

A soft, earthy velvet that brings quiet warmth to tailored seating and layered neutral schemes.

Pairs well with

Cosima Sand is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
