Woodfern Old Blue

Cristabel FabricF4779-02

Woodfern Old Blue sets layered fern leaves against a quiet pale ground, with the foliage reading in soft old blue, eucalyptus and washed sage tones. The overall effect is airy but decorative, with the linen weave adding a natural, relaxed finish.

About this fabric

This colourway of Woodfern from the Cristabel collection by Colefax and Fowler is woven in 100% linen and measures approximately 134cm wide. The design shows an elegant large-scale botanical repeat with a vertical half drop of 79cm and an approximate horizontal repeat of 88cm, so the fern forms sit generously across the cloth. In Old Blue, the foliage has a faded, weathered quality rather than a bright coastal blue, giving the print a calm, slightly antique feel. The visible linen texture softens the outlines of the leaves and helps the cream ground hold the pattern without looking heavy.

How to use it

Use this cool old-blue leaf print on relaxed curtains, a feature armchair or a tailored headboard where the large fern motif can breathe. It works especially well with chalky whites, driftwood finishes and muted green accents.

Pair this cool, leafy print with painted timber, linen plain weaves and a soft neutral ground.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
