Emile II FabricJ896F-13

Emile Steel is a quietly tailored plain fabric in a deep charcoal-grey tone. The surface reads matt and even, with just enough softness in the weave to stop the colour feeling flat.

About this fabric

Emile Steel from Jane Churchill’s Emile II is woven in a 50% cotton, 50% polyester blend, giving the cloth a balanced, usable handle. The 140cm approximate width and zero repeat make it a straightforward choice for cutting and coordination. Visually, this colourway sits in a dark steel-grey range with warm undertones, so it feels grounded rather than stark black. The finish looks smooth and understated, with a subtle textile grain that adds depth close up. Care code C 8 + T 3 and fire code K are supplied for this exact fabric.

How to use it

Use this steel-grey shade to anchor a scheme with pale stone, oat and walnut, where the dark neutral adds definition without shouting. It is also a strong backdrop for brushed metal details and crisp tailoring in both seating and soft furnishing schemes.

A restrained charcoal that works neatly with pale woods, black accents and tailored upholstery.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
