Tristram Clay

Hamlin FabricF4726-02

Tristram Clay is a softly textured neutral with a warm clay-beige cast and a fine, understated herringbone effect. The small-scale weave gives the fabric a calm, tailored look rather than a flat plain finish.

About this fabric

From the Hamlin collection by Colefax and Fowler, Tristram Clay is a fabric with a subtle, closely worked herringbone/check appearance and a gently variegated surface. The colour sits in a warm beige-clay range, softened by the mix of linen, cotton, viscose, polyester, wool and polyamide, which gives it a dry, natural look with a little depth in the weave. With a width of approximately 143cm and a vertical repeat of 0cm / horizontal repeat of about 1cm, it reads as a restrained, easy-to-place coordinate. The muted tone and neat texture make it feel refined without becoming formal.

How to use it

Use Tristram Clay on a sofa, banquette or smart roman blind where its warm neutral ground can steady richer accents. It pairs especially well with oak, parchment, charcoal and brushed metal details.

A quietly textured neutral that works well on tailored seating or soft window treatments.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Tristram Clay without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
