Silas Old Blue

Hamlin FabricF4728-04

Silas Old Blue has a calm, faded look, with narrow horizontal striations and a gently mottled surface that softens the stripe. The blue reads as pale and dusty rather than bright, sitting quietly against the warmer neutral threads.

About this fabric

This Colefax and Fowler fabric is woven in a linen-rich blend of 22% Linen, 22% Polyester, 22% Viscose, 19% Cotton, 12% Wool and 3% Polyamide, giving the surface a dry, lightly textured handle. The repeat is approximately V 24cm / H 7cm, and the small horizontal stripe feels understated because the bands are softened by pale beige, grey and washed blue tones. The overall effect is muted and airy, with a chalky blue cast that catches the light without looking crisp or stark. At approximately 139cm wide, it is a versatile cloth for considered interior schemes, and the fire code is √BM.

How to use it

Use this colourway on a tailored armchair, headboard or bench where the restrained blue can cool down warmer woods and painted finishes. It also pairs well with oyster, putty and weathered oak for a calm, layered scheme.

A quiet blue with lineny texture that works neatly on upholstery or relaxed curtains.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Silas Old Blue without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
