Genista Red/Green

Medora FabricF4789-02

Genista Red/Green is a softly textured striped woven with a calm, country-house feel. Its small-scale bands of brick red, olive, sage and warm cream read as grounded rather than bright.

About this fabric

This Medora fabric from Colefax and Fowler has a tactile, multi-fibre handle, with 56% cotton balanced by linen, viscose, wool and synthetics for added stability. The design combines narrow woven stripes with occasional geometric bands, all set on a warm cream ground that keeps the pattern feeling airy. In this colourway, the red is softened to a terracotta-brown note and the green sits in an olive-sage range, so the overall effect is earthy and restrained rather than bold. The repeat is V 41cm / H 69cm approx, and the width is 138cm approx, making it suitable for confident upholstery schemes where a rhythmic small pattern is wanted.

How to use it

Use it on an armchair, ottoman or bench where the muted red and olive tones can warm oak, rush and aged brass. It also works well with ticking stripes, checked linens or plain natural fabrics in cream and moss.

Pair with quiet neutrals and natural woods to let the earthy stripes do the talking.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
