Colefax and Fowler

Acantha Old Blue

Oriana FabricF4613-03

Acantha in Old Blue has a light, airy ground with an elegant scrolling floral design in soft powder blue, coral pink and muted gold. The overall effect is fresh but gently traditional, with the pale blue giving the pattern a washed, timeworn softness.

About this fabric

This Colefax and Fowler fabric is woven in 40% viscose, 35% linen and 25% cotton, with an approximate width of 129cm and a large repeat of V 76cm / H 65cm. The colourway reads as a quiet old blue rather than a strong navy or clear sky tone, which allows the coral blossoms and warm gilt stems to sit delicately against the pale background. The surface appears smooth rather than heavy, so the cloth has a refined, adaptable handle suited to both upholstery and drapery. Its ornamental floral motif feels airy and layered, with the cooler blue notes keeping the design calm while the warmer accents add just enough brightness.

How to use it

Use it on an occasional chair, window treatment or a tailored headboard to bring soft colour without overpowering the room. It works especially well with chalky whites, weathered oak and accents of terracotta or blush.

Pair with pale linens and warm timber for a fresh, softly traditional scheme.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
