Mateus Birch

Vasco FabricL9513-04

Mateus Birch is a calm, understated neutral with a gently textural surface and a warm birch-cream cast. The plain weave reads soft and even in the image, with just enough grain to keep the cloth from feeling flat.

About this fabric

Woven in 44% wool, 28% cotton, 19% linen and 9% polyamide, this Larsen fabric has a natural hand and a lightly nubbled look that suits relaxed interiors. The repeat is 0cm vertically and horizontally, so the focus stays on the texture and the subtle tonal movement across the surface. At approximately 133cm wide, it is a practical cloth for both upholstery and curtains, depending on the finish and make-up. The Birch colourway shows a muted cream with a faint beige warmth, giving it an easy, versatile softness rather than a sharp white note.

How to use it

Use Mateus Birch to soften darker woods, limed oak or stone finishes, where its pale beige warmth will lift the room without looking stark. It is especially effective on tailored upholstery or quiet, full-length drapes in schemes that need a lighter neutral anchor.

A quiet birch-toned neutral that works beautifully across seating and curtains.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
