About this fabric

Woven in a 44% wool, 28% cotton, 19% linen and 9% polyamide blend, Mateus Clay has the gentle handle and natural depth you’d expect from a cloth with this much fibre variation. The swatch reads as a warm cream with a subtle beige cast, and the fine weave gives it a smooth, matte look rather than a heavy surface effect. With an approximate width of 133cm and a vertical/horizontal repeat of 0cm, it presents as a plain fabric that is easy to use across tailored upholstery or neat window dressing. The colour feels light and refined, sitting somewhere between linen white and soft clay, which helps it stay bright without looking stark. Care code Q 8 + T 3 and fire code √BM are also supplied for this exact fabric.

How to use it

Use it on clean-lined seating, dining chairs or panels where the warm neutral tone can soften stronger woods and darker accents. It also works well for curtains in rooms that need a lifted, light-reflective base without a cold white finish.

A quiet neutral that works beautifully on upholstery and relaxed drapery alike.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
