Bonseki Porcelain

Harlequin x Henry Holland Weaves FabricHAF0582-02

Bonseki Porcelain is a pale porcelain-grey woven marked with dense, fine charcoal-grey lines that curl into softly irregular, wave-like forms. Its light ground keeps the all-over pattern airy, while the closely drawn lines bring subtle visual depth.

About this fabric

The colourway reads as a quiet, cool pale grey, with the darker linear motifs creating a gently rippled surface rather than a bold graphic contrast. The broken lines form small organic islands across the cloth, giving the design movement while retaining a restrained, tonal character. At 464 gsm, this is a substantial fabric with the weight and presence expected for upholstery. It has a 138 cm usable width, a 68.1 cm vertical repeat and a 34.6 cm horizontal repeat; the specification also records 137 threads per cm.

How to use it

Use Bonseki Porcelain on a tailored sofa, occasional chair or headboard where its pale grey ground can brighten the room without feeling stark. Pair it with chalky whites, natural timber and deeper graphite accents to draw out the fine charcoal linework.

A substantial pale-grey woven with fine rippling lines, suited to tailored upholstery and contemporary seating.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Bonseki Porcelain without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
