Harlequin

Performance Velvets Avocado

Performance Velvets Avocado is a plain velvet in a softly muted green, with the swatch’s short pile creating gentle bands of light and shade. Its yellow-green tone feels fresh yet grounded rather than sharply bright.

About this fabric

The close view shows a smooth, dense velvet surface with no visible motif or pattern, while the pile catches the light in a broad, softly lustrous sweep. This colourway sits between olive and lime, tempered into an earthy avocado green with a warm, mellow depth. Weighing 540gsm, it has the substantial handle expected of a velvet suited to upholstery. The usable width is 141cm, and both the vertical and horizontal pattern repeats are 0cm, making the plain surface straightforward to position across a chair, sofa or headboard.

How to use it

Use this avocado green on a statement armchair or tailored sofa, where its warm yellow-green tone can be balanced with walnut, natural timber, oatmeal textiles or softly aged brass. The pile’s changing sheen will add depth without introducing a printed motif.

A dense avocado velvet with a softly shifting pile that brings depth to upholstered seating.

Pairs well with

Performance Velvets Avocado is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
