Harlequin

Performance Velvets Cornflower

Performance Velvets Cornflower is a cool, saturated blue velvet with a softly brushed surface that shifts from pale blue highlights to deeper cornflower shading as the pile catches the light. Its plain face keeps the focus on the colour and directional sheen.

About this fabric

The velvet has a rich cornflower-blue tone, reading distinctly cool in the swatch, while the changing nap creates gentle bands of light and shadow across its surface. At 540gsm, it has the substantial handle expected of a furnishing velvet and is well suited to upholstery. The fabric has a 141cm usable width. With a 0cm vertical and horizontal pattern repeat, it can be cut without matching a motif.

How to use it

Use this blue colourway on a tailored sofa or occasional chair where its cool depth can anchor an otherwise light room. Combine it with chalky whites, soft greys or warm natural wood to balance the velvet’s saturated tone.

Use this cool blue velvet to bring soft depth to sofas, armchairs and headboards, pairing it with pale neutrals or warm timber.

Pairs well with

Performance Velvets Cornflower is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
