About this fabric

The ocean-blue colour moves from muted blue-grey highlights to a richer blue at the lower edge of the swatch, giving the velvet noticeable depth without a pattern. Its close, even pile creates a soft, finely textured surface with a gentle directional sheen. At 540 gsm and 141 cm usable width, this is a substantial textile well suited to upholstered furniture. The supplied vertical and horizontal pattern repeats are both 0 cm, consistent with the plain surface visible here.

How to use it

Pair this cool ocean blue with pale woods, chalky neutrals or brushed metal for a calm, tailored scheme. On a sofa, headboard or occasional chair, turn the pile direction to play up its changing blue-grey and deep-blue tones.

Use this deep ocean blue velvet on statement seating, where its directional pile can add soft tonal movement.

Pairs well with

Performance Velvets Ocean is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
