About this fabric

This 416gsm velvet carries a closely packed acanthus pattern, with slate-blue leaves set among thyme and olive foliage, pale parchment highlights, and warm russet-brown stems. The cool blue-green ground gives the colourway depth, while the muted botanical colours keep it earthy rather than bright. Its 84cm vertical and 65cm horizontal pattern repeats create a substantial, scrolling arrangement across the cloth. The fabric has a 130cm usable width, a standard length of 60m and 145 threads per cm.

How to use it

Use Slate Blue/Thyme on an occasional chair, sofa or upholstered headboard where its cool blue depth can be paired with walnut, aged brass and warm neutral plains. Pick out the thyme leaves with olive or moss accents, while parchment details offer a lighter counterpoint.

Use this richly coloured velvet on statement upholstery, balanced with warm wood, leather or plain woven textiles.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
