Brunswick Russet

Archive IV The Collector Fabrics FabricMOF0078-04

Brunswick Russet is shown here as a densely woven russet-red textile, with a fine, closely spaced zigzag texture running across the surface. The warm brick and brown tones give the colourway a grounded, quietly robust character.

About this fabric

The surface is formed by a small herringbone-like weave, with narrow cream and brown flecks breaking through the deep russet ground. Rather than a flat red, this colourway reads as layered and earthy, with the lighter threads catching the light in fine diagonal flashes. At 710 gsm and 18 threads per cm, it has the substantial visual and physical presence expected of a heavy upholstery cloth. It has a 140 cm usable width, a 35 m standard length and no recorded vertical or horizontal pattern repeat.

How to use it

Use Brunswick Russet on a structured armchair, dining seat or upholstered bench where its warm red-brown depth can sit against natural wood, tobacco leather and chalky neutral walls. The compact weave also works well for adding texture without introducing a large-scale motif.

Use this warm russet weave to bring depth to tailored upholstery, especially alongside aged timber, tan leather and soft neutrals.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
