Grain Flame

Grain Fabric

Grain Flame is shown here as a rich, deep red textile with an irregularly clouded surface. The colour moves between dark wine-like shadows and warmer ember-red highlights, giving the cloth visible depth.

About this fabric

This dense-looking fabric has a flame-red ground, softened by darker tonal variation and subtle warm flecks across the surface. Rather than a defined repeat, the close view reveals an irregular grain-like texture that gives the colour a softly weathered, tactile character. The supplied catalogue identifies the item as a fabric; no composition, width, rub-test or other performance specification has been provided. Its visually substantial, non-fluid surface reads particularly well for upholstery, where the deep red can give chairs, sofas or headboards a rich focal presence.

How to use it

Pair Grain Flame with dark timber, aged brass and warm neutral walls to draw out its smoky wine shadows; against cream or putty tones, the ember-red highlights become more noticeable.

Use this deep ember-red shade to bring warm, moody colour to upholstered seating and occasional pieces.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
