Grain Gris

Grain Fabric

Grain Gris is a muted grey-taupe fabric with a softly clouded surface and barely-there organic movement. Its cool, understated tone reads calm and versatile in the close-up swatch.

About this fabric

The surface combines warm taupe undertones with a restrained grey cast, creating a softened neutral rather than a stark silver grey. Fine irregular markings drift across the cloth in low contrast, giving the plain-looking ground a gentle, natural grain. The dense, tactile appearance makes this fabric particularly convincing for upholstery, where its quiet texture can add depth without introducing a strong pattern.

How to use it

Use Grain Gris on a sofa, occasional chair or upholstered headboard alongside chalky whites, pale oak and brushed metal. Its softened grey-taupe tone also works well with putty, stone and other warm neutrals.

A quiet grey-taupe upholstery cloth that brings subtle movement and tactile softness to contemporary seating.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
