Bullerswood Spice/Manilla

Archive IV The Collector Fabrics FabricMOF0079-04

Bullerswood Spice/Manilla brings a warm manilla ground to a densely detailed Morris & Co. design, with spice-red birds and flowers entwined through curling stems. Blue-grey, olive and charcoal accents give the composition depth without cooling its overall warmth.

About this fabric

The large-scale repeat combines mirrored birds, stylised blossoms, curling foliage and a central rosette, all picked out in faded spice red, dusty blue-grey, olive and dark charcoal. Its 430 gsm weight and 68 threads per centimetre indicate a substantial cloth well suited to upholstered furniture. The usable width is 138.4 cm, matching the horizontal pattern repeat, while the vertical repeat measures 107.2 cm for a clearly considered pattern placement. Supplied in a standard 60 m length, this colourway has a softly aged, tapestry-like richness created by the contrast between its pale manilla ground and deeper botanical outlines.

How to use it

Use the manilla ground to warm a reading chair, ottoman or sofa, then echo the spice-red birds and flowers in cushions or painted furniture. Blue-grey and olive details can temper the red while keeping the scheme connected to the fabric’s intricate pattern.

A substantial, richly patterned textile for upholstered pieces where its warm manilla ground and spice-red detailing can take centre stage.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
