Newill Embroidery Antique/Carmine combines an antique cream ground with densely arranged botanical embroidery in carmine red, teal, olive and ochre. The repeated sprigs have a softly vintage character, with the red flowers providing the strongest visual accent.

About this fabric

This substantial 439 gsm fabric has an 86 threads-per-centimetre construction and a 138 cm usable width, giving the design a convincingly weighty presence for upholstery. The 47 cm vertical and 45 cm horizontal repeat places curling stems, leafy sprays and small floral clusters across the antique cream background. Carmine flowers and berries read as warm, saturated points of colour, while teal, olive and muted ochre details add depth without overpowering the ground. The close, textured surface helps the fine botanical drawing retain its definition across the repeat.

How to use it

Pair the antique cream ground with warm wood, aged brass and plain upholstery in olive, teal or soft camel. Use the carmine accents selectively on a statement chair, headboard or coordinating cushions to give a room a collected, heritage feel.
