About this fabric

The soft cream background keeps this colourway light, while sage and olive-green vines are joined by dusty rose, muted terracotta, pale blue and ochre details. Birds appear among curling stems, rounded flower heads and scrolling foliage, creating a layered chintz composition rather than a simple repeat of isolated blooms. With a 252 gsm weight, 38 threads per cm and a 130 cm usable width, it has the substance for both upholstery and drapery applications. The 91 cm vertical repeat and 130 cm horizontal repeat should be allowed for when positioning the larger birds and floral groupings.

How to use it

Use this gentle cream colourway on a relaxed occasional chair, headboard or full-length curtains where its sage foliage and faded rose accents can sit alongside natural timber, painted furniture and warm neutrals. Its pale ground also helps the detailed repeat read as decorative without becoming visually heavy.

Use the soft cream ground with sage, dusty rose and muted terracotta accents to bring gentle pattern and an airy, collected feel to seating or window treatments.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Newill Chintz without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
