Newill Grey Blue

Melsetter Fabric & Weaves FabricMOF0123-04

Newill Grey Blue has a pale, cool blue-grey ground filled with curling stems, small flowers, paisley-like forms and perched birds. Fine rust, coral, olive and cream details give the airy colourway gentle warmth without losing its soft, silvery character.

About this fabric

This 252gsm fabric has a 130cm usable width and a substantial 91cm vertical by 130cm horizontal pattern repeat. The all-over design combines looping vines, leafy sprigs, stylised blooms and small birds, with the generous repeat allowing the scattered composition to read across a larger surface. Against the grey-blue ground, muted terracotta and ochre accents catch the eye while olive foliage and cream motifs keep the overall effect restrained. A specification of 38 threads per centimetre supports the close, finely detailed woven appearance visible in the swatch, and the standard length is 60 metres.

How to use it

Use this cool grey-blue colourway on a reading chair, occasional sofa or full-length curtains where its pale ground can lift a room. Balance the detailed botanical repeat with plain oatmeal upholstery, chalky painted timber and warm terracotta accessories that pick up its small rust-coloured accents.

Pair the cool blue-grey ground with natural linens, warm woods and softly aged metallics.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
