Yew & Aril Ink

Little Book of Morris Fabrics FabricMOF0202-04

Yew & Aril Ink brings Morris & Co.'s small botanical pattern into a cool, deep blue-grey colourway. In the swatch, fine pale sprigs crowd the ground, creating texture through contrast rather than a large, emphatic motif.

About this fabric

The image shows a cool ink blue-grey ground densely covered with tiny, pale, leaf-like sprigs; the close-set marks give the surface a lively, almost stippled rhythm. At 275 gsm and 35 threads per cm, this is a substantial mid-weight textile with a finely constructed appearance. Both pattern repeats measure 46 cm vertically and horizontally, so the motif is organised on a square repeat rather than a one-way stripe. With a 138 cm usable width and a 60 m standard length, it offers practical scale for furnishing runs.

How to use it

Use this cool ink-and-pale-grey colourway where a room needs pattern without warmth: it would bring quiet definition to a reading chair, cushion or full-length curtain.

The cool ink blue-grey ground and densely scattered pale sprigs suit upholstery and curtains where understated pattern is wanted.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
