Otaru grey

Otaru Grey has a softly weathered look, with vertical striations and subtle tonal shifts from pale silver to deeper stone grey. The surface feels relaxed and textural, with a quiet woven depth that catches the light.

About this fabric

This Otaru Grey colourway from the iKon collection is made from 100% polyester and is suitable for curtains, blinds and upholstery, with a Martindale rub test of 8,000. The fabric has a pronounced linear weave that runs vertically through the sample, giving the grey a lightly brushed, layered appearance. Cool silver-grey tones sit over warmer taupe notes, so the overall effect is more nuanced than a flat grey. At 214 gsm and with a usable width of 143 cm, it reads as a versatile mid-weight textile rather than a pure drapery cloth. Dry clean only care and do not iron instructions help preserve the texture and the softly slubbed surface.

How to use it

Use Otaru Grey for tailored curtains, relaxed Roman blinds or an upholstered occasional chair where you want a calm, architectural look. Its cool grey base works especially well with white walls, natural timber and brushed metal finishes.

Pair with pale oak and chalky neutrals to let the softly striated texture take centre stage.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
